Road Safety Update from Colyford Parish Council – January 2026

Road Safety Update from the Parish Council

The minutes for the recent Parish Council meeting will be released in due course. The topic of road safety was discussed in detail at this meeting and we thought a brief update of what has happened, since then, would be useful.

We met with representatives from Devon County Council (DCC) including officers from Highways and Road Safety where we discussed the issue of road safety in Colyford.

We have agreed to do a “walk around” the whole village with the Road Safety Officer to look at all the issues and what options there may be to solve them. After this a Road Safety Engineer will need to be commissioned to produce a report on these possible options; this will then form the basis of any future discussions.
DCC have committed to investigate sources of project funding.

We also met with the Team Sergeant from the Devon and Cornwall Police Road Casualty Reduction team. This was a very useful meeting and they have agreed to be involved in the village walk with DCC. This is encouraging!

In summary, the Parish Council is hopeful that something will be done to improve road safety but this is only the start of what will be a lot of work.

We will keep you informed of progress.
